County commissioners court lifts burn ban

There has been sufficient rain in recent weeks to end the burn ban in DeWitt County.

At Monday’s meeting of commissioners court, the county reviewed the drought index and threat of brush fires. They determined the moisture level has improved and pastures are seeing some green growth.

With that information, the court agreed to lift the burn ban immediately.

Benavidez Memorial receives grant

 

The Benavidez Memorial Foundation is the latest recipient of the Cuero Development Corporation Community Service Grant. The grant was used for the construction of the Benavidez Memorial located on U.S. Highway 87.

Duncan-Williams celebrates grand opening

 

The Cuero Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for Duncan-Williams, Inc. on Feb. 7. Duncan-Williams is a privately owned investment firm. David Scott is shown cutting the ribbon at the office located on 118 E. Main Street.
