Moore agrees with Steen regarding McDonald’s sign

Dear Editor,

I just want to agree with everything Jeff Steen had to say in his recent Letter to the Editor in the Cuero Record.

I had the same reaction the first time I saw the McDonalds eye sore of a sign or is it a sky sore?

Why anyone would attack Jeff for standing up is beyond me. Plus- to refer to people who were born and reared in Cuero as carpetbaggers is the height of stupidity. Even though some of us come from DeWitt County’s pioneering families, we have found our way out of the County- and still care about it.

Thanks for the Letter Jeff and keep up the good work. Root Beer for everyone!

Stanley Moore

Hall shares opinion on McDonald’s sign

Dear Editor,

I will try not to take up almost half a page about this sign. This poor old horse has been ridden about in the ground long enough. Lighten up! It’s a sign. It’s there. It’s been there. It’s not going anywhere. There are far more important matters that should be addressed within our community than a 75 ft. sign that has been up for years and causing no great harm. Is it big? Yes. Does it dominate the sign line? Maybe, depends on who your talking to. The one thing for sure is that it is already there and if it helps our local Mc- Donald’s sell a few more burgers, that’s great.

Friendsgiving ‘thank you’

Dear Friends and Family,

My family and I would like to say “Thank You” to everyone who helped with the Friendsgiving Benefit on November 27th. We would first like to thank the ladies who planned and put on such a wonderful event. There are not enough words to ever express our gratitude to you wonderful ladies. Without Lisa Elliot, Brenda Martin, Thelma Rogers, Carol Mathis, and Angie Cuellar, this wouldn’t have even been possible.

Jeff Steen discusses McDonald’s sign

Dear Editor,

Earlier this year I had the opportunity of spending some time in front of the Cuero City Council to discuss the 75 foot McDonalds sign that dominates the Cuero skyline.

A little history. Christmas Eve 1995 I was driving from Victoria after egg nog with my mom and headed to Westhoff to see my dad. As I crested the hill by Cuero High I was shocked to see the huge Golden Arches looming over the City.... While the homes, church steeples and Courthouse tower were covered with Christmas lights, the skyline was overshadowed by the McDonalds sign. I recall thinking at the time, how could this be?

The Cuero City Council and Mayor at the time must have thought the same thing.

Concert for Classrooms

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Cuero ISD Education Foundation board of directors, I would like to thank the community of Cuero for its support of the 2016 “Concert for Classrooms,” which was held on November 12, at the Cuero ISD Performing Arts Center. Proceeds from the event will benefit Cuero ISD in the form of grants to educators for resources, projects, and programs outside the scope of traditional school funding as well as help the Foundation grow its endowment and cover its operating expenses. We are thankful for the sponsors who went out on a limb with us, the community members who purchased tickets in support of our endeavor, and the host of volunteers who gave of their time and talent to both help and encourage us along the way. We are grateful for the community in which we live and look forward to hosting future events in the Cuero ISD Performing Arts Center to generate funds in support of Cuero ISD.
